What's new at The Organic Farm Shop?
15 March 2009: On the farm Mike says that the cows have started calving with 3 calves so far. The land is drying out and like many gardeners and farmers alike he says he is itching to get on working the land down again and get sowing and planting. This is a very important for him because after another difficult year last year he was ready to give up, but I am glad that he is not, as that we will mean, we will have regular supplies of fresh produce from the beginning of June.
Early beetroot was sown this week in a tunnel house and next week contractors are coming to spread compost, and Mike hopes to plant artichokes. The first plants - cabbage, broccoli and onions - arrive on the 6th April, so the land has to be ready by then. More news next time.
