Bank Holiday and half-term

We've just had a lovely weekend and the forecast for the week is looking good in time for the bank holiday weekend and the beginning of half-term!
An interesting report from a Dutch university was published last week stating that toddlers 'consume four times too much protein on average' and this can lead to childhood obesity.
In the report parents are warned to watch their children’s intake of meat, cheese and milk after researchers linked protein-rich diets to higher levels of body fat.
Sometimes we can react to these headlines without reading reports thoroughly and must take care with our children's diets.
Dr Trudy Voortman, of the Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, said she did not recommend parents feed their children a vegan diet, which is “too extreme”, but should watch out for products labelled low-fat that are actually high in protein. “Perhaps have a little bit of high fat yogurt, instead of a lot of low-fat yogurt”.

We are starting to see UK lettuces and cabbages in the shop this week - for a full list of fruit and vegetables see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
In the meat/fish department we have organic beef mince, bacon, cooked ham and smoked salmon. We also have a range of frozen meats including chicken: whole, thighs and breasts.
If you want a particular meat or fish please let us know on the Monday morning. Please note that the shop will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday. Have a good week!

PS if you or a friend can't come to the shop you can take a virtual tour! You can then email in an order and we will endeavour to deliver it - see our delivery page for details.

Everything French

It's still cold but at least we haven't got snow and it is going to warm up in the week!
May is such a lovely month - the trees with their new leaves, the blossom and two bank holidays!
We've had some amazing sunsets and views of the moon. My sister had a wonderful view of the moon and Jupiter last night in London.
With binoculars you should be able to see 4 of Jupiter's moons! It's probably going to be cloudy tonight but the sky should be clearer later in the week.
Back down to earth - Emmanuel Macron has won the French election and we have some cherries from France in the shop to celebrate!
