Punnets of strawberries, Strawberry moon and Wimbledon

Well we're all reeling from the referendum results. What a turbulent few days and many more to come. The weather has also been all over the place. We've had the summer solstice and it's now summer - really?
We had a wonderful Strawberry Moon which coincided with the summer solstice - a once-in-a-lifetime occurence. A Strawberry Moon is a full moon, which occurs in June, named by early Native American tribes because it marks the beginning of the strawberry season.
Talking of strawberries - we have punnets of delicious UK strawberries in the shop.
Strawberries lead us on to Wimbledon fortnight for those keen tennis fans amongst us! Let's hope that the weather improves over the next two weeks!

In the shop this week we'll have organic fresh and smoked salmon and kippers.
We also have a range of frozen organic beef mice, sausages and chicken breasts and thigh fillets.
If you want a particular meat or fish please let us know on the Monday morning.
For a full list of what's in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!

PS if you or a friend can't come to the shop you can take a virtual tour! You can then email in an order and we will endeavour to deliver it - see our delivery page for details.

Pickering in Bloom

Half-term is over. What a mixture of weather! Most of the time it was very cold and windy but we had lovely warm sunshine at the end of the week!
Despite the weather the holiday makers in Scarborough were determined to enjoy themselves on the beach. My sister and friends had a very cold visit to Scarborough Castle and Anne Bronte's grave.
It was interesting to hear about their Richard 3rd and Anne Bronte adventures and plans over supper using ingredients from their organic visitor's box.
Despite the weather it's lovely at this time of year to see the wonderful displays of flowers in and around Pickering.
Eastgate Square is looking very smart and has been entered into the Pickering in Bloom competition.

In the shop this week we'll have fresh organic beef mince, burgers, chicken breasts and thighs and pork sausages.
If you want a particular meat or fish please let us know on the Monday morning.
