Half-term

After the very disappointing decision by North Yorkshire Council re Fracking in Kirby Misperton Frack Free Ryedale in conjunction with Friends of the Earth and 38 Degrees
have launched The People's Declaration to demand no fracking in Yorkshire. See also the Frack Free Kirby Misperton's Facebook page.

It's half-term this week but unfortunately the weather forecast isn't great. I had a visit from my daughter this bank-holiday weekend which was lovely. We managed to catch up on some gardening together.
Later this week my sister and two friends are coming up to York and then on to Scarborough on a Richard 3rd and Anne Bronte trail. Do we call them Ricardians? They will be stopping at Sherriff Hutton to see the castle remains and the church where it's generally thought that Richard's only son is buried.
I hope to be able to deliver these Ricardians an organic visitor's box to sustain them during their busy schedule!

In the shop this week we'll have fresh organic beef mince, pig's liver, chicken breasts and thighs together with a lovely range of organic fruit and vegetables. We have UK Asparagus which is only in season for a short period and is delicious!
For a full list of what's in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!

PS if you or a friend can't come to the shop you can take a virtual tour! You can then email in an order and we will endeavour to deliver it - see our delivery page for details.

Urgent - Anti-fracking campaign

Kirby Misperton and Pickering were in the newspapers at the weekend! Two very good articles in the Guardian and Observer about the local Anti Fracking campaign.
We are all opposed to shale gas fracking plans by the UK firm Third Energy.
On Friday May 13th North Yorkshire County Council planners in a report recommended that permission be granted for tests on a field half a mile away from Kirby Misperton.
The final decision will lie with councillors next week and we all need to prepare for a final push to head off the proposals.
The government imposed a moratorium in 2011 after operations in Blackpool "probably" caused two small earthquakes.
If North Yorkshire council approve the application next Friday it will be the first exploratory drilling to be given the go ahead since the ban.

We need to keep up our energy levels for this campaign so in the shop this week we'll have fresh organic beef mince, rump steak, chicken breasts and smoked salmon together with a lovely range of organic fruit and vegetables. We have UK Asparagus which is only in season for a short period and is delicious!
For a full list of what's in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!

May - the month of bank holidays!

Did you manage to see any of the Tour de Yorkshire? I went down Forge Valley and watched them all fly by. Those cyclists are so fit! What a gruelling last day - Sutton Bank, Blakey Ridge, Robin Hood's Bay etc!
For us spectators what a pity it was such a wet and cold day! The weather is going to improve by the weekend but won't hit 24 degrees as they are predicting for London.
My sister had a lovely week up here and really enjoyed all the lovely organic food from the shop! She has access to lots of good food shops in London but but not with the range that we have!
In the shop this week we'll have fresh organic bacon, cooked ham, kippers, beef mince, braising steak, chicken thighs and breasts.
For a full list of what's in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!
