Stir-up Sunday

It's now typical November weather. We've had rain and wind and more are forecast. It's also going to get colder by the weekend.
Lots of you are coming in to the shop and buying ingredients for warming soups. Here is a lovely celery soup recipe. You often find you have celery lurking in the fridge. If you are vegetarian you can replace the chicken stock with a vegetable one.
If you have ripe bananas lurking in your fruit bowl why not try this healthy banana cake recipe.
This weekend is Stir-up Sunday when traditionally you made your Christmas pudding. We have all the ingredients in the shop. If you don't want to spend hours steaming the pudding you can bake it in the oven in a deep roasting tin full of water and covered with tin foil. This would work well if you're cooking more than one. Click here for details.

We are taking orders for Christmas - organic turkeys, geese, chickens, gammons, nut roasts (normal and gluten free) and last but not least gluten free mince pies.

Bonfire Night

We've changed the clocks and as soon as that happens the evenings really draw in. Also this fog isn't very nice when driving early in the morning - do take care.
We have got Bonfire Night to look forward to on Thursday and we should be making Yorkshire Parkin to pass round to everyone huddled round the bonfire! If you haven't the time/ inclination to make your own we have delicious gluten-free vegan ginger cake in the shop.
It's the time of year to be thinking about making your Christmas cake and we have all the ingredients in the shop.
It will be Stir-up Sunday soon so why not buy all your ingredients now before we run out!
