Chelsea Flower Show and summer fruits

It's Chelsea Flower Show this week and the Royal Horticultural Society has launched Greening Grey Britain.
This is a campaign to transform hard grey areas into living, planted places that enrich lives.
They are aiming this mainly at people who live in towns and cities but we can all do our bit They are asking people to pledge to change 6,000 grey spaces by the end of 2017!
If you plan to make a pledge do let us know and send us a photo!
My elder sister lives in London and is very concerned about the rapid increase in the paving over of front gardens.
Next weekend is the beginning of half-term with a bank holiday on Monday.
This can be a busy and stressful time for young people with school, college and university exams looming.
We should be encouraging them to eat healthy food to nourish their brains and bodies.
Salmon is a good source of protein, omega 3 & 6 and this harissa salmon with zesty couscous recipe is a different and tasty way to prepare salmon!
We are starting to see summer fruits appearing in the shop - apricots, cherries, nectarines and peaches!
For a full list of fresh produce in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
We will also have organic fresh and smoked salmon and a range of organic beef, chicken and pork.
The shop will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday. Have a good fortnight!

Sweet Potato Brownies

Well wasn't the Tour de Yorkshire a success! More than 1.2 million turned out for the full event and stage one from Bridlington to Scarborough saw 250,000 spectators line the streets! There was a lot of excitement in the square with reporters and television crews.

My sister has just alerted me to a very interesting interview on Radio 4's Woman's Hour today with Ella Woodward.
Ella was diagnosed with a rare medical condition, which meant that she couldn’t walk down the street, slept for 16 hours a day and was in pain most of the time. When conventional medicine failed to help her, she decided to completely overhaul her diet, giving up gluten, dairy, sugar, meat and all processed food overnight, and after eighteen months, her symptoms started to disappear. She started experimenting with recipes and blogging about her new approach to food. She believes in Clean Eating where you eat natural food cutting out refined sugars and processed food.
Her blog Deliciously Ella now receives around 6 million hits a month. She talked to Jane Garvey about her philosophy for healthy eating and they sampled her sugar and gluten free sweet potato brownies.
They sound yummy so why not try making them. We have all the ingredients in the shop.
For a full list of fresh produce in the shop this week see our organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
We will also have organic fresh and smoked salmon.
Have a good week!
