Mother's Day

Well the weather is rather unpredictable. People were sitting outside in London last week and then last night we had a hard frost -1 C degree this morning!
What is lovely is the light evenings and we put the clocks forward at the weekend.
Don't forget that it's Mother's Day on Sunday. We will have fresh organic North Yorkshire lamb later this week. Why not cook, or if you're a Mum get someone in the family to cook you, a lovely roast dinner.
If you are vegetarian we have nut roasts and frozen vegetarian sausages. We have lots of lovely organic root vegetables that can be roasted along side the potatoes - local parsnips, golden globe beetroot and celeriac.
Mothering Sunday was the day when household servants were given the day off to return to their families and to visit their local/ 'mother' church.
It was also called Simnel Sunday after the practice of baking Simnel cakes to celebrate the reuniting of families during the austerity of Lent.
In the shop this week we have a wide range of fruit and vegetables including this season's asparagus, golden globe beetroot and lovely portobello mushrooms.
For our full range of this week's produce see our latest organic fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!

Daffodils!

Isn't this a lovely time of year? Things are starting to burst out in the hedgerows and in our gardens. Snow drops, crocuses and now daffodils are starting to open.
The wild daffodils of Farndale should be out soon. My sister is coming up from London at the beginning of April and fingers crossed that we can go on the Farndale walk.
In the shop this week we have a wide range of fruit and vegetables including this season's asparagus, golden globe beetroot and lovely portobello mushrooms.
For our full range of produce in the shop this week see our latest organic fruit and vegetable price guide. We will have frozen organic salmon this week and 10% off frozen organic north yorkshire lamb.
Have a good week!
