Midsummer

I've just had a lovely weekend! My older sister came up from London to belatedly celebrate special birthdays with me and our younger sister. On saturday I rushed to close up the shop (sorry if you got caught up in this), because we three sisters were having supper at the Stephen Joseph Theatre followed by Alan Ayckbourn's revival of Time of My Life. A wonderful evening - just wish that the Organic Farm Shop supplied the restaurant - the food would be even better!
On Sunday we went to Bempton Cliffs and saw puffins! The numbers at Bempton are reducing due to the rise in sea temperature which affects sand eels - the puffins source of food.
After sea bird spotting my big sister came back and cooked us a delicious meal - roast beef, yorkshire pudding, new collen potatoes, local spring cabbage and carrots - all produce from the shop!
So in the shop this week we have the local spring green cabbage, a range of new potatoes including new charlotte from Jersey. For a full list of fresh produce see our latest fruit and vegetable price guide.
My sister noticed that at this time of year it doesn't get dark up here until 10pm, 20 - 30 minutes later than London. So have a good week and enjoy midsummer - it does now feel like summer!

It's June!!

What a lovely weekend and the forecast looks reasonable for the rest of the week. We are starting to see the arrival of summer fruits in the shop. This week we have organic apricots, cherries, peaches, galia melons and water melons.
We are also expecting a delivery of organic pork, sausages, burgers and bacon. Why not have a barbecue at the weekend? For non meat eaters we have vegetarian burgers and sausages. The romano red peppers can be barbecued and here is a delicious recipe - we have the goats cheese coming in tomorrow.
For a full list of fresh produce in the shop this week see our latest fruit and vegetable price guide.
Have a good week!
