Post snow - hopefully!

What a lot has happened in the 2 weeks since the last blog! Snow, snow, snow and more snow! Two of our younger customers built a lovely snowman outside the shop - I'm sure you saw the photo on our Facebook page!
The snow has almost gone but rain and high winds are forecast! We still need warming food - what about this lovely spicy lentil soup.
It's important to eat well during this cold time of year - we often feel like reaching for the left over Xmas chocolates but we should keep eating our greens. We have some lovely savoy cabbages - they are an important source of vitamin K. Vitamin K plays an essential role in the cascade process that occurs when your body is wounded and a blood clot is formed. Many steps to this intricate process rely on adequate levels of vitamin K in your system.
This week we also have fresh organic chicken.
For more information about what's in the shop this week see our latest fruit and vegetable price guide.
Keep warm!

First snow for 2013

We've just had our first snow of the year and more is forecast - brghh! This is the time to stay indoors as much as possible and cook up some warming food. We have a range of local organic root vegetables - why not try curried parsnip soup?
We also have organic seville oranges in the shop - they are only around for a short period so don't miss out. We have 3kg bags of organic cane sugar with which to make your marmalade. The oranges will freeze if you haven't time to make the marmalade at the moment. You can also use the oranges for other things and at the bottom of this interesting article by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall there is a recipe for Seville orange meringue pie!
In the shop this week we also have fresh organic pork, bacon and sausages. See our price guide for further information.
Have a good week and keep warm!
