March news

In the shop:

The fruit and vegetable price list for 15 - 28 March is now on the website.

With Easter fast approaching we have just had a delivery of new potatoes from Italy and the lamb this month is from Gloucestershire. We will have a delivery of fresh salmon next week.

We have a wide range of Easter eggs and all the ingredients for making Simnel cakes.

Next week (22 - 27 March), please could you send in your orders early because I have a family wedding and Mike will be doing the deliveries.

Easter week deliveries will be as normal - the shop will be open on Good Friday but closed on Easter Monday for stocktaking.

On the farm: Sunny warm days are here at last, the land is beginning to dry up and there are signs of new life. The first cow calved on Tuesday with a female calf. The Cow was Freckle Face, a Hereford x, adopted by our neighbour's teenage daughter who proudly photographed the calf on her mobile to show it off to her friends. We have been sowing some eary broad beans in the one Tunnel House we have left, and several rows of beetroot. The remaining area will be filled with cabbage in early April. Further work on the farm includes clearing the land of last years old crops, taking down the bean poles, and then getting contractors to spread the composted manure which has been weathering for a year outside. Our first plants - onions and cabbage arrive soon after Easter, and we look forward to another year, sowing, growing and harvesting vegetables.
